A talented young boy was also very lazy.He would waste his time sleeping or watch TV, he never put his talentsto any use. One day, his uncle came to his house for a visit. It was lateat night and there was no electricity.
The uncle immediately lit two candles.He placed one under a bowl and the other under a behind a chair. The youngboy laughed. “Uncle, how strange! Why are you placing the candles underthe bowl or behind the chair? Of what use are these candles, now that theirlight has been hidden?”
The uncle smiled. “Just as it is withthese candles, so it is with us. Talent if hidden or not put to any gooduse is of no benefit to anyone. Do not be like a candle whose light ishidden, be a candle whose light shines out, dispelling darkness.”The boyunderstood the wisdom of his uncle’s words.
We are all blessed with talents andunique abilities, which will only be realized if we harness them. You are the light.
